This chair was designed for a friend living in Boston and thus had to be modular for ease of shipment and simplicity of assembly. Similar to previous projects, 3/4" birch plywood is used for the seat and backrest elements as well as the rockers themselves. For the frame itself, 3/4" hollow steel tube is bent to shape using a conduit bender at a set radius. Metal hardware (bolts, washers, and wing nuts) in conjunction with 3D printed pieces, help connect the wood and metal to form the chair. The idea was to keep the materials and design simple and clean, drawing from previous furniture projects.
